Since its founding in 1982, Ser Jacopo has become one of the leading pioneers of the Persaro style, which tends to favor robust proportions and bold, expressive shaping. Ser Jacopo's Historica series looks back at the Italian firm's 40 years of craftsmanship and offers modernized renditions of some of their most distinctive and novel pipes, as evidenced by this unique Calabash.

A large, imposing composition, this piece boasts a towering, thick-walled bowl that stands at the fore of an upturned shank and a steeply curved tapered stem. The bowl houses a capacious chamber within its muscular frame, ensuring plenty of long, leisurely smoking sessions, which the vaulted shank and stem will deftly aid. Additionally, the bowl features a a dramatic forward cant that lends the shape a dynamic silhouette, one accented by the sinuous S-curve of the shank and stem. A crisp sandblast dresses the stummel and highlights handsome grain across briar's surface, while a pair of chic metal accents adorns the junction and ties the form together with a touch of splash.
