Ser Jacopo: Domina 2009 Rusticated Oom Paul with Silver (R1) (D) (93) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-171-4266

An annually released limited edition series, Ser Jacopo's Domina line comprises a single shape across various finishes, with the shape itself varied every year. The line has become something of a tradition, with a new iteration having been produced each year since 1996, every one distinct from the ones that have preceded it. For instance, the shape made for 2022 was a unique take on the bent apple. This particular pipe is the edition from 2009: a stout and hearty take on the Oom Paul that boasts both a wonderful jaw-hanging stance and a stable sitting ability.

The entirety of this pipe balances nicely on a central foot that's flattened for easy sitting, with this flattened panel situated at the heel and below the transition. The shank here is thick and tapers rapidly toward its end, its nearly vertical stance paired here to a sharply bent stem of black acrylic, the junction between shank and stem accented with an accent of silver. Up front, the bowl grows impressively thick walls in an almost cylindrical configuration, canting forward subtly for an understated dynamism. What draws the eye most readily, however, is the large silver cap that covers the rim, one which is etched with an intricate pattern and text that commemorates the release. Dressed in a craggy rustication and warm, earthy stain, the stummel here is rich with texture that is sure to keep the fingers engaged.
