Ser Jacopo: Picta Magritte Smooth Bent Billiard with Silver (L1) (C) (12) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4275
Ser Jacopo's Picta line of pipes was established by founder Giancarlo Guidi, who was an art collector and enthusiast. The series features pipes modeled after those seen in works of art by such visionaries as van Gogh, Miro and Magritte, with the latter's surrealist painting The Lame Man of 1947 serving as the inspiration for the crafting of this bent Billiard. The painting presents a bearded and mustachioed man holding a timepiece in one hand with several pipes dangling from his mouth.
This hearty pipe features a rounded, plump-based bowl that displays a bit of cheeking at the ample transition, with the upturned shank continuing the bowl's muscular aesthetic. It's wearing one of the Italian workshop's smooth auburn finishes, highlighting tight-knit flame grain on the left flank and a peppering of fetching birdseye along the rim. An elegant piece, it's further enhanced by an ornate silver accent band depicting the Belgian artist's iconic flying doves.
