Ser Jacopo: Insanus Spongia Rusticated Reverse Calabash (R2) (D) (9) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-171-4339

Since its founding in 1982, Ser Jacopo has become one of the most recognizable and iconic pipe brands in all of Italy. Under the watchful stewardship of founder Giancarlo Guidi, the workshop developed a style that has since come to define the Pesaro shaping aesthetic. Each Ser Jacopo pipe is imbued with a whimsical sense of character that reflects the brand's creativity and playful spirit. Ser Jacopo's Insanus series features pipes that are especially unique, even by the standards of the already boundary-pushing Italian marque. This reverse Calabash showcases the Insanus' line's distinct character, offering a shape that resembles two Acorns fused together. The bowl here possesses a dramatic forward cant, its softly contoured walls flaring outward from a pointed, rearward-orientated heel to a bulging waistline and a rounded rim. A tight-knit transition connects said bowl to a similarly shaped shank, which houses a reverse Calabash chamber within its stout frame, ensuring a cooler, drier smoking experience. Dressing this composition is the craggy Spongia rustication, which will develop the warm tans, browns, and golds of patina as the pipe is smoked.
