Ser Jacopo: Maior Sandblasted Dublin (S1) (A) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-171-4369

Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Though Guidi passed away in 2012, his legacy lives on not only in the pipes he crafted, or the company he founded, but in the language of design that he helped to pioneer. A sleek, neoclassical Dublin from Ser Jacopo, this piece showcases a feature that we seldom see in this shape when produced by the Italian workshop: a tapering, oval-shaped shank. The compressed, ovoid shape of the shank and stem keeps things looking sleek from the flanks and creates twin ridges, with one on either side of the pair. A wide transition provides plenty of room to drape a thumb and pairs the shank and stem to a full-bodied bowl that stands on a firm heel, its walls flaring expressively to a broad, subtly sloped rim. Dressing this piece here is the singular Maior finish, pairing a jet-black sandblast with craggy striations of carved, red-stained briar to evoke the appearance of cooling magma and create stunning visual contrast.
