Ser Jacopo: Picta Magritte Sandblasted Bent Egg with Silver (S2) (C) (7) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-171-4393

Known for pioneering the Pesaro style of pipe making, Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982. Since then, the Italian marque has made a name for itself with its affinity for fantastical, imaginative interpretations of classic pipe conventions. Among these interpretations is the marque's Picta series, a line created by Guidi that was inspired by his admiration for the arts. The shape of this bent Egg draws inspiration from René Magritte's 1948 painting, The Pope's Crime.

This bent Egg from Ser Jacopo sees a tall, plump bowl posed at the fore, formed by supple walls reaching high from the rounded heel and tapering gently toward the flat rim, its figure contouring well to the hand. Out back, the shank curls upward from the transition and pairs to a smartly bent tapered stem to form a sinuous S-curve, the arrangement promoting comfortable jaw hanging. Additionally, the junction is accented with an elegant silver band that's engraved with a pattern of flying birds, a common motif in Magritte's work. Dressing the stummel is a crisp, earthy sandblast that reveals rippling growth rings across the bowl beneath a dark, warm-toned stain.
