Ser Jacopo: Sandblasted Freehand (S2) (C) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4401
Known for pioneering the Pesaro style of pipe making, Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982. Since then, the Italian marque has made a name for itself with its fantastical, imaginative interpretations of classic pipe conventions. This Freehand from Ser Jacopo is a strongly forward-urging piece, its shape resembling a rounded interpretation of the Pickaxe. The bowl's figure fits snugly in the hand, its plump walls arcing from the curved, pointed heel toward the sweeping, undulating rim. A slender, abbreviated shank lifts from the bowl and joins to a willowy, gracefully arced tapered stem, its posture pairing with the stummel's sloping line work along the top and underside to create a fluid, dynamic silhouette. The stummel wears a rugged sandblast that draws out rippling growth rings around the bowl, all dressed in a warm, chestnut stain.
