Ser Jacopo: La Fuma Finché Tira Smooth Apple Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4411
Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Though Guidi passed away in 2012, his legacy lives on not only in the pipes he crafted, or the company he founded, but in the language of design that he helped to pioneer. Ser Jacopo's La Fuma, "The Smoke" in English, line of pipes is the first tier within their smooth-finished pieces, and presents a good value for the grain on display, made all the more tempting thanks to its inviting mahogany stain. This Apple is a lovely example of the brand's hearty, neoclassical style, with a footprint that's remarkably compact overall but rich with substance throughout. Encroaching on Nosewarmer territory with its overall length of under five inches, this pipe is hearty in hand and boasts a rotund bowl of ample breadth and height, its thick walls surrounding a capacious chamber. The transition is wide, and it gives way to a thick, short shank that's married to a sleek saddle stem of black acrylic, keeping the overall footprint small while placing further emphasis on the presence of the bowl. The aforementioned warm stain of the La Fuma line dresses the stummel and reveals a wealth of handsome grain, ensuring this pipe stays a valued member of one's rotation.
