Ser Jacopo: Historica 2023 Picta Magritte Spongia Rusticated Bent Billiard Sitter with Silver (R2) (1) (18) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4450
Since its founding in 1982, Ser Jacopo has become one of the leading pioneers of the Persaro style, which tends to favor robust proportions and bold, expressive shaping. Ser Jacopo's Historica series looks back at the Italian firm's 40 years of craftsmanship and offers modernized renditions of some of their most distinctive and novel pipes, as evidenced by this eccentric bent Billiard.
Part of Ser Jacopo's Picta line, which recreates pipes depicted in famous works of art, this bent Billiard takes its look from Belgian artist René Magritte's abstract painting entitled La pipe from 1928. As far as pipes goes, this piece is fairly sculptural, both in appearance and build, boasting a tall, Cauldron-esque bowl that stands atop a sure-sitting, pedestal-like heel. A high-kicking shank-and-stem arrangement brings up the rear and promotes a comfortable smoking posture, its vertical reaching counterbalancing the bowl's forward-canted posture. This particular rendition is dressed in a natural rustication, courtesy of the Spongia finish, providing a wealth of tactile intrigue for the fingers to explore while leaving the briar unstained for easy accumulation of bespoke patina.
