Ser Jacopo: Insanus Rowlette Rusticated Double Barrel with Silver (D) (2) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe

Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. True to its translation, Ser Jacopo's Insanus, unsurprisingly meaning "insane" in Latin, line of pipes present shapes that are sure to make one look twice out of sheer bewilderment, as can be plainly seen from this Double Barrel. The Double Barrel, rather than featuring two Barrel bowls, has a chamber on top and a chamber on the bottom in one very large barrel bowl, though really this is a pipe that makes you understand that perspective is relative. Additionally, and appropriately, we see two shanks, a shank cap, and a stem, either of which can attach to either shank, determining which bowl is to be smoked from. Both shank ends are adorned with silver, as are both rims, and, despite its looks, this pipe is super comfortable in the hand, as you can drape your forefinger over the capped end's shank, and wrap your middle finger around the bowl beneath it, the thumb wrapping around opposite the middle finger. Wearing the carved Rowlette rustication, this pipe showcases a look that's mostly distinctive to Italian pipe making: an eye-catching "dripping wax" finish, here stained a warm auburn.
