Ser Jacopo: Picta Miro Sandblasted Hawkbill with Silver (S2) (C) (1) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4521
Ser Jacopo was founded in 1982 by legendary pipe maker Giancarlo Guidi. The workshop cultivated their signature Pesaro style, which delights in dramatic flourishes and whimsical stylings, even more so than the already playful Italian tradition. Sadly, Guidi passed away in 2012, but Ser Jacopo carries on his legacy. Ser Jacopo's Picta line takes its inspiration from Giancarlo Guidi's appreciation for the arts and features pipes similar in shape to those seen in the works of famous painters. This particular Hawkbill was inspired by Spanish surrealist Joan MirĂ³'s painting Still-Life with Coffee Grinder. A quintessential Italian shape, the Hawkbill is defined by the dramatic, upward arc from the heel to the stem, as opposed to the traditional S-curve seen in many bent pipes. Ser Jacopo adds some signature twists to the shape, crafting a bulbous, Egg-like bowl that is dressed in a crisp, auburn-tinged sandblast, which is interrupted by a single beadline encircling the bowl just below the rim. The bowl transitions into a thick, swiftly tapering shank that meets a similarly tapering stem of black vulcanite at a junction marked by a silver ring.
