Ser Jacopo: Picta Miro Rusticated Billiard with Silver (R1) (C) (03) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4525
Based on the 1920 painting Horse, pipe, and red flower from Spanish artist Joan Miró, this unique Billiard takes inspiration from the long, slender clay pipe depicted in the surrealist work. However, this Ser Jacopo rendition utilizes briar as its medium and does a fine job of adhering to the source material, but it takes some creative liberties in its execution. Here, the Italian workshop has added a single beadline underneath the rim, and the base is slightly elongated, its roundness noticeably causing it to droop past the shank. This particular example has then been finished in a crisp rustication that lends the stummel an engaging texture. A trim band of silver separates the jet-black stem from the stummel and ties the composition together rather nicely.
