Ser Jacopo: Historica Luciano Spongia Sandblasted Bent Apple (S3) (71) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4547
Ser Jacopo was founded in 1982 by legendary pipe maker Giancarlo Guidi. The workshop cultivated their signature Pesaro style, which delights in dramatic flourishes and whimsical stylings, even more so than the already playful Italian tradition. Sadly, Guidi passed away in 2012, but Ser Jacopo carries on his legacy. Ser Jacopo's Historica line of pipes resurrects older shapes made by the brand, often reinterpreting and further stylizing these shapes, often pairing them to expressive silver accents. The line is most often seen as an annual release, though Ser Jacopo has released older editions of the series on occasion, with this bent Apple being one such piece. This is an especially unique iteration of the line, as it's also part of the Luciano series, an extremely rare one from the brand. Immediately visually arresting, this pipe features a unique shank and stem combination, with the shank curling out of a tight transition to meet a fitment of silver. Here, the shank pairs to another section of briar that curls in the opposite direction, its ends fitted with their own silver accents and its aftmost side poising a black acrylic saddle stem for comfortable smoking. Up front, the bowl stands on a rounded heel and grows thick, supple walls that reach to a chamfered rim, creating a comfortable feel in hand and insulating a capacious chamber. Dressed in a crisp tanblast, the stummel showcases handsome grain, with the bowl offering a rippling pattern of cascading growth rings.
