Ser Jacopo's Picta series takes inspiration from famous paintings and recreates pipes depicted in those seminal artistic works. This particular Hawkbill offering draws from van Gogh's Self-Portrait with Straw Hat and Pipe and, as a shape, features a muscular, plump-heeled bowl that's balanced at the fore of an aquiline-like shank-and-stem arrangement. The bowl's wide, well-rounded base fits quite naturally in the hand, while the shank and stem's elegant curvature promotes a comfortable smoking posture. A smoky smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights some striking throughout, while a sterling silver accent adorns the junction and ties the entire composition together with a dose of flash.
