Ser Jacopo: Amber Delecta Spongia Rusticated Dublin (R2) (C) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4576
Ser Jacopo was founded in 1982 by legendary pipe maker Giancarlo Guidi. The workshop cultivated their signature Pesaro style, which delights in dramatic flourishes and whimsical stylings, even more so than the already playful Italian tradition. Sadly, Guidi passed away in 2012, but Ser Jacopo carries on his legacy. The Italian workshop's Delecta series is defined by its stylized shank end and stem base, often incorporating a combination of silver, acrylic, and briar. A swift, crisply defined flare out to the face typifies the shank end, while the stem's tenon or base is often extended to provide a separation between the stummel and stem and showcase more of its accenting material. This Dublin is a charming piece from the brand, staying true to their playful Pesaro style and boasting plenty of heft to appreciate. The bowl stands on a firm heel and grows thick walls that flare out expressively to a broad rim, one sat just above a singular beadline encircling the bowl and featuring a subtle slope into the chamber. A wide transition out back gives way to a thick, short shank capped with the Delecta mount in a vibrant, crackling, amber-hued acrylic. The matching stem comprises a swift taper to the button, its tones complemented by the stummel's light, tan-hued rustication: the rim finished smooth for rich contrast.
