Ser Jacopo: Sandblasted Calabash (S2) (B) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4592
Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Bold, sinuous, and grandly gestural, this Calabash not only showcases the brand's iconic Pesaro style, but also the workshop's ability to drill along a continuous curve. The transition is acute, but wide enough to drape a digit, and it gives way to a swiftly lifting, curling shank that tapers through a silver-wrapped junction and the base of the saddle stem. The bit slenderizes the aft side of the pipe significantly while offering plenty of curvature for comfortable smoking. Said shank and stem balance an eye-catching bowl up front, one that stands atop a sweeping heel and flares out expressively, its rim carved to resemble the iconic meerschaum chamber caps seen on gourd Calabashes. Dressed in a crisp, auburn-tinged sandblast, the stummel showcases a wealth of handsome grain and plenty of texture to appreciate.
