Ser Jacopo: Sandblasted Rhodesian (S2) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-171-4601

Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation for crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. This Rhodesian is impressively compact, compared to much of Ser Jacopo's other works, coming in at less than five inches long and boasting ample substance about its construction. The transition is more than wide enough to accept a digit, and it gives way to a hearty, tapering shank that marries a sleek saddle stem of black acrylic: slenderizing the aft side of this piece and pushing the majority of the visual weight toward the fore. Up front, the bowl stands on a broad, rounded heel and flares out to a high-set waist marked by a pair of beadlines, which additionally denote a swift taper to the flat rim, the bowl's slight forward cant affording the composition a subtle dynamism. Dressing this piece is a crisp, earthy sandblast that reveals a diagonal pattern of rippling growth rings radiating out of the heel, offering plenty of visual appeal and rich texture.
