Silver Gray: Sandblasted Oversized Author Tobacco Pipe

While this Oversized Author is robust compared to Silver Gray's other works, it's not particularly large overall. Based on the œuvres of other carvers and marques, especially those who display a penchant for the Italian school, this piece would probably be considered a fairly standard-sized fare. That being said, it does fill the palm nicely, fulfilling the classic Author's conventional muscularity and stoutness. As is conventional for Gray, the shape is an archetypal rendition of the shape-chart standard, elevated by the American artisan's superior engineering and quality finish and stem work. A traditional sandblast adorns the stummel but with intriguing depth and variation of hue for subtle contrast, and like many Silver Gray pipes, it's fitted to a hand-cut stem of brindled vulcanite, offering an earthy, mossy tones to distinguish it from standard editions of the timeless Author shape.
