Lasse Skovgaard: Smooth Bent Apple with Horn (Lion)
Product Number: 002-327-0548
If you couldn't tell by the "Lion" stamp, this is a very special piece from Lasse Skovgaard — not only in the density, orientation, and definition of the grain, but in the beauty of the shape itself. Speaking to the latter, it's a wonderfully plump take on the bent Apple shape — a characteristic which Lasse's accentuated to its fullest by keeping the transition oriented low and extending the cheeks of the bowl well past the breadth of the shank itself. The result, visually, is that of a round Tomato perched atop the rest of the piece, which naturally translates to an extremely comfortable and welcoming feel in hand. As for the grain, it is absolutely covered in vibrant flame, riding both flanks of the bowl and shank, with deep whirling birdseye inundating everything in between. If you're a collector of Lasse's work, or a fan of Danish pipes in general, this certainly isn't one to be missed.
