Lasse Skovgaard: Smooth Bent Dublin
Product Number: 002-327-0638
Lasse Skovgaard's bent Dublins have always been consistently impressive over the years, thanks in part to the Danish carver's ability to reinterpret the classic shape in a wide variety of unique ways. Whether rendered in willowy proportions, accented by organic mediums, or displaying a gestural stance, each rendition demands attention. This particular offering showcases Lasse's precision when it comes to line work and maximizing the grain orientation of each briar block. The curling shank gradually guides the eye to the bowl which subtly flares from its lifting heel up toward the broad, inflated rim. Said rim is separated from the rest of the bowl by a ridgeline, allowing the swirling birdseye that populates the rim to stand out from the streaks of flame grain that dance around the bowl. The transition sits slightly tucked underneath the protruding rim before giving way to the flaring shank end, its rounded shaping mimicking the rim. The disc-like shape of the stem base expertly complements the flaring shank face before continuing its elegant downturn. It simply doesn't get much better than a Danish classic rendered by an artisan as talented as Lasse Skovgaard.- Jeffery Sitts
