Lasse Skovgaard: Sandblasted Bent Egg
Product Number: 002-327-0642
One of Lasse Skovgaard's signature renditions is his interpretation of the Acorn, marked by a slight sinuosity through the shank and stem, the latter often pinched, somewhat elongated, and with a flare toward the transition. While this bent Egg doesn't feature the high-waisted bowl and rounded rim of said Acorn, the general profile and gesture of the shape aligns with Lasse's rendition — the flow from bit to heel realized in the bowl's forward cant and the shank slightly longer and elegant tapered toward the stem. The shank is oval of cross section, prompting rounded ridgelines along the flanks, and the transition here is noticeably defined to accentuate the lower bowl and visually separate it from the rest of the stummel. Delightfully rounded, the bowl rests easily in hand and is dressed in Skovgaard's recognizable sandblast — characterized by a low depth, but with detailed definition, and a contrast stain that orients a lighter hue along the textured peaks.-Truett Smith
