Lasse Skovgaard: Sandblasted Bent Apple
Product Number: 002-327-0666
Lasse Skovgaard is undeniably talented when it comes to rendering organically inclined shapes, and this bent Apple is an excellent example. It's rife with supple, graceful curves and sinuous, flowing lines, demonstrating the Danish artisan's skillful shaping abilities. The bowl is pleasantly plump, its bulging flanks subtly tapering up toward the rim and containing a capacious tobacco chamber within. The pinched shank further accentuates the bowl's supple curves and creates pronounced cheeking at the transition before arcing upward to meet the elegantly bent saddle stem, the base of which echoes the shaping of the dramatically flaring shank face. Lasse has then treated the stummel to a light-depth sandblast, preserving the bowl's supple curves while also providing sufficient texture to keep wandering fingers entertained.- Jeffery Sitts
