Lasse Skovgaard: Sandblasted Bent Dublin
Product Number: 002-327-0703
Lasse Skovgaard is a Danish pipe maker with a pedigree, as the son of Benni Jørgensen and from his early start in pipe making as an 18-year-old apprentice in the iconic W.Ø. Larsen workshop. He learned the craft alongside legends like Teddy Knudsen, and quickly earned the responsibility of making the workshop's prestigious Straight Grain pipes. Now selling pipes under his own name for well over a decade, he displays his own unique, clearly Danish style.
This svelte bent Dublin reveals his shaping acumen with a roundly flaring bowl that flows seamlessly through a lifted heel and gentle transition into an equally easy-flowing rounded shank. A two-tone sandblast accentuates rippling growth rings climbing the bowl, as well craggy natural plateau crowning the rim, while a smooth section at the shank end melds effortlessly with the base of a hand-cut vulcanite saddle stem. It feels stimulating in hand, yet offers an incredibly light weight to make for good clenching potential.- Joel Balyeat
