Lasse Skovgaard: Smooth Bent Apple Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-327-0812
The son of pipe carver Benni Jørgenson, Lasse Skovgaard is an accomplished artisan, proficient in the shaping style of his native Denmark. Beginning in his father's studio, Skovgaard went on to work in the esteemed W.Ø. Larsen workshop, and now works independently, creating fine pipes that have proven popular among discerning smokers for decades.
This bent Apple is an excellent example of Skovgaard's flowing, organic style, featuring a plump, curvaceous bowl with walls that fill the palm comfortably as they rise to a domed, undulating rim with a deep bevel along its inmost side, creating a distinctive ridge that also assists with filling the chamber. Out back, a heavily cheeked transition further emphasizes the bowl before giving way to a gracefully arcing shank, tapering as it journeys upward to meet a deeply bent vulcanite saddle stem, allowing the pipe to be clenched with ease. Dressed in a rich auburn finish, the stummel boasts excellent flame grain all around the bowl, with dense birdseye coating the rim and heel.-Gabriel Bass
