Lasse Skovgaard: Smooth Bent Dublin with Ivorite Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-327-0825

Lasse Skovgaard, son of Danish artisan Benni Jørgensen, began his pipe-making career at just 16. He trained at the W.Ø. Larsen workshop, initially crafting tampers before producing the workshop's renowned Straight Grain pipes by age 19. Encouraged by family friend Teddy Knudsen, Skovgaard debuted his pieces at the 2004 Chicago International Pipe Show, marking the start of his solo career. His style, influenced by his father and Kundsen, is defined by clean lines and exceptional finishes. This bent Dublin is a handsome showcase of Skovgaard's work, showcasing an organic curvature and an asymmetrical design. This piece features a crisp ridgeline along its left flank, reaching from the junction to the rim, causing the rim of the flaring bowl to be almost lenticular in profile. The ridge lends the shank a slightly more structured shape, while the right flank remains smooth, the combination's contrasting nature adding a touch of tactile appeal. The asymmetry of the bowl is mirrored at the face of the shank, capped in a pale accent of ivorite before it meets a demurely bent stem of jet-black vulcanite. Dressed in a warm auburn stain, the stummel displays swirls of defined birdseye along the rim.
