Lasse Skovgaard: Smooth Tomato Tobacco Pipe

Son of pipe icon Benni Jørgensen, Lasse Skovgaard has been producing pipes since he was a teenager. Skovgaard spent a few years working under W.Ø. Larsen before selling his first pipes under his own name at the Chicagoland International Pipe & Tobacciana Show. Classically Danish in design, this smooth Tomato from Lasse Skovgaard is sweeping from button to bowl and combines impressive linework with supple curvature. Up front, the bowl is plump as its walls expand from a full-bodied heel and rise to the rim that looks into a respectable tobacco chamber. Soft cheeking around the transition gives way to a rounded shank that flares toward its base, which connects to the abbreviated shoulders of a vulcanite saddle stem. The sleekness of the mouthpiece pairs well to the smooth stummel, where stunning flame grain wraps the bowl and lovely birdseye can be seen across the underside.
