Lasse Skovgaard: Sandblasted Bent Apple Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-327-0841
Lasse Skovgaard, son of Danish artisan Benni Jørgensen, began his career at 16 at the W.Ø. Larsen workshop, crafting renowned Straight Grain pipes by age 19. Encouraged by family friend Teddy Kundsen, he showcased his work at the 2004 Chicago International Pipe Show, launching his solo career. This Apple is immediately recognizable as a timeless example of Danish shaping with a thorough under-curvature and cheek transition. The bowl is set on a sweeping heel that flows smoothly into the fore wall, creating a seamless, dynamic shape with ample roundness and a subtle sense of motion. The inward sloping of the rim enhances this piece's dynamic posture while allowing for effortless loading of your favorite tobacco into the chamber. The heavily cheeked transition accentuates the bowl's rounded profile, leading to a gently arching shank that flares at the transition before meeting a subtly bent saddle stem. Skovgaard finished the stummel with a dark sandblast that revealed freckled birdseye on the right flank and intricate ring grain on the left.
