Lasse Skovgaard: Sandblasted Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-327-0848
Lasse Skovgaard, the son of renowned Danish artisan Benni Jørgensen, began his pipe-making journey at 16, honing his skills at the prestigious W.Ø. Larsen workshop. By 19, he had mastered the art of crafting the workshop's celebrated Straight Grain pipes. With encouragement from family friend Teddy Knudsen, Skovgaard made his independent debut at the 2004 Chicago International Pipe Show, marking the start of his solo career. Today, Skovgaard is considered one of Denmark's most accomplished pipe makers, with a style that blends the influences of his father and Knudsen, characterized by meticulous line work and exceptional finishes. This bent Dublin beautifully showcases Skovgaard's talent for both shaping and finishing. The bowl features an expressively domed rim, with a high-set waistline separating the lower and upper sections, evoking the Bulldog shape. The aft of the composition carries distinct Danish influence, with the shank framed by two crisp rifelines that flare outward—an iconic Danish shaping cue. The stem, crafted from black vulcanite, is gently bent and accented by a crisp expansion ring at its base. The stummel is finished with an earthy sandblast and stained in a warm hue, highlighting freckled birdseye through the shank and growth rings along the bowl. To add a touch of visual contrast, the rim and shank face are left smooth and stained a rich auburn, creating polished accents that beautifully frame the textured stummel.
