Suhr: Smooth Rhodesian with Horn

Product Number: 002-821-0014

This style of Rhodesian is one that we've seen several times before from Johannes Rasmussen of Suhr Pipes. It maintains the traditional shape's pairing of a Bulldog bowl with a rounded shank, but Johannes pinches the middle of the shank, resulting in flaring lines both toward the transition and shank end. Such line work serves to add more curves to the profile, adding elegance and flow through the piece and leading the eye toward the bowl up front. Said bowl is bulbous and generous in hand — the beadlines demarcating the taper toward the rim, while the heel remains more softly rounded to contrast the straight lines above. Unlike other versions we've seen from the Danish carver, this one is finished completely smooth, the vibrant stain highlighting an impressive array of birdseye. The stem base has been accented with a trim ring of horn inset into the vulcanite for a clean-lined disposition.
