Hiroyuki Tokutomi: Smooth Bent Dublin with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-141-1112

Here Hiuroyuki Tokutomi appears to have challenged himself with seeing how he could most dramatically alter a Dublin shape with his signature "balanced asymmetry" approach, while creating something that would still be recognizable as a Dublin. Well, he succeeded - this design is, beyond all doubt, dramatic, and yet still distinguishable as bent Dublin, at least in profile anyway. And of course, however extreme his playing about with the shape's symmetry may have gotten (and it got pretty extreme here), he still managed to keep every alteration of one side counter-balanced by the lines and forms of its opposite. Along the way, again as usual, he's also used the arrangement of lines, surfaces, and channels to make for a masterful display of the briar's most beautiful natural assets.
