Hiroyuki Tokutomi: Smooth Vase Sitter Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-141-1024

The Toku Vase: a shape as indicative of the Japanese master as his Blowfish. And like all of Tokutomi's work, each Vase is unique; an iteration of a variation and the result of an ever evolving study of an idea.

Here Tokutomi's signature liquid organicism is present at each and every turn. From the slight forward reach of the bowl, to the delicate twist of the shank, to the subtle asymmetry of the form, this piece is pure Tokutomi in aesthetic. A virtuoso of shape and design, Tokutomi has fused the shank and bowl together in such a harmoniously seamless manner that there is no sense that one is considering two distinct components; rather, we're admiring one magnificent composition. The manner in which the grain seems to flow up and out from the bottom of the piece serves to reprise this sentiment. The pipe is beautifully breathtaking and yet another example of the prowess of the legendary pipe maker.
