Tonni Nielsen: Smooth Rhino's Horn Tobacco Pipe

One of Tonni Nielsen's more evocative shapes, this Rhino's Horn combines elements of the classic Danish Horn with a fair bit of Freehand flourish to really reinforce the allusion between the design itself and its namesake. In profile, it maintains a clean, sweeping gesture from end to end, with a bit of poised stance to the bowl itself, springing forward with active dynamism. From the smoker's perspective things only get more interesting, the rim taking on a unique teardrop shape coming to a softened point along the fore with a slight upward flicking gesture. Despite that elongation to the rim and upper bowl, it actually fits quite comfortably in hand, melding naturally to the contours of the palm. As for the grain? Well, Tonni's done spectacular work bringing out the most out of this block, highlighting an impressive flame pattern through a warm, medium contrast finish.
