Tsuge: Shiki Fuyu Dark Smooth

Plump and pocket-friendly, this Shiki Fuyu bent Apple from Tsuge is compact and nearly a nosewarmer in its length. Robustly chambered, the bowl is as wide as it is tall and features a forward cant. An abbreviated shank-and-stem configuration retreat out back and provide a counter balance to the bowl's mass. This offering boasts a bevy of lovely grain and is dressed in a warm, contrast stain. As part of the Shiki series, named for the four seasons, this particular shape is named fuyu, the Japanese word for "winter."
