Tsuge: Urushi Iris Billiard Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-099-10080
Urushi is a Japanese art form with a long history dating back to the Jomon period over 9,000 years ago. The specific process that created this colorful straight Billiard, however, has been practiced for around 10 centuries. Modern connotations of the term can either refer to the durable lacquer created from the sap of the Asian sumac or to the totality of the completed product itself.
Taking anywhere from months to several years, it's a time-consuming process, involving multiple steps and a great deal of curing time to realize such a beautiful form, making this straight Billiard quite the unique addition to your rotation.
With a smooth grey finish revealing subtle wisps of grain to serve as a background, this Billiard is decorated with intricate Urushi irises around the bowl. The full shank is further adorned with a brass-colored accent band that transitions to a tapered vulcanite stem that makes this beautifully and subtly appointed pipe a perfect balance of artistry and function.
