Vauen's 2019 Pipe of the Year offering is a handsome, unique take on the Tomato as a crisp ridgeline travels from the top end of the shank, wrapping all the way around to the forward side of the rim, forming an eye-shaped rim in the process. All dressed in a warm walnut stain, the robust, plump bowl is a delight to wrap your fingers around, its thick walls providing plenty of comforting substance while you puff away. Accented by a bright metal band at the shank end stamped "Vauen 2019," this piece is an excellent way to celebrate the rich legacy of Germany's oldest pipe factory.
