A decidedly modern take on the Rhodesian, this shape is the sole member of Vauen's Alex series, one which aims to further merge the stummel with the mouthpiece, creating a design that's almost completely homogeneous. The bowl is rather Ball-like in a way, with a great deal of rounding about it through the upper half, though the lower half tapers down to an Acorn-like heel, the two separated by a crisp beadline. The shank is covered in a sheath of black acrylic, the same material the stem is made of, and kicks up from the transition rather sharply before meeting its matching stem which takes on a demure downturn. Dressing this piece is a crisp, earthy sandblast that reveals handsome grain all around, save for the rim, which is finished in a black, smooth lacquer that also matches the shank and stem.
