Historic German marque Vauen has been in business since 1848, creating quality smoking instruments seen in a variety of intriguing finishes. This "408" Rhodesian is a fine example, pairing a rather Danish-influenced form with a more contemporary finish. Shape-wise, the wrapping ridgeline is set high on the bowl, while the bowl and shank display easy lines and soft curvature. As part of the marque's Karat line, it's wearing a detailed, dark striated rustication that's created with a special tool, resulting in plenty of textural and visual allure with the rim and accent band smoothly stained a light mahogany for contrast.
