Vauen's roots date to 1848, and they remain Germany's oldest and most storied marque, pioneering not only a distinctive design style but also the 9mm filter. The Sola series was introduced in 2022, and its name references its sunny disposition: The line comprises pipes characterized by a deep, warm auburn stain that defines the briar's natural grain and a stem of vibrant yellow acrylic accented with a band of virgin briar. The entire finish takes 60 individual steps to complete, and it's presented here on the "1508" Acorn, its sinuous stretch of shank and stem offering sublime balance while the bowl's plump contours afford a comfortable feel in hand.
