Founded in 1848 by Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Zeiner, Vauen is Germany's oldest pipe factory and the birthplace of the first 9mm pipe filter, an innovation that has since became standard across most of the marque's designs. Vauen's starter kits are a perfect way to enter the hobby of pipe smoking and come complete with everything one needs to get started, including a pipe, pipe cleaners, carbon filters, a pipe tool, and a handy "how-to" brochure. The pipe included here is the marque's "3" bent Brandy, which features a plump bowl posed at the fore an elegantly curved shank-and-stem arrangement. It's dressed in a jet-black smooth finish and accented with a pair of metallic rings, fostering a dress-pipe aesthetic that's quite striking.
