Vauen: Hawaii (337) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-457-10361
With roots dating to 1848, Vauen is Germany's oldest and most storied pipe making marque, and they boast a number of innovations, most notably the development of the first 9mm filter. The Hawaii series is one of the company's more visually striking lines, taking direct inspiration from handmade Hawaiian wooden surfboards to imbue a number of shapes with a distinctive style. Alternating bands of differently colored and grained wood comprise the stummel, creating a look that's entirely unique, the surface having been waxed and oiled by Vauen to emulate the look of a surfboard ready for the waves. In order to preserve the smoking properties of briar, the chamber here is actually an insert of briar burl, keeping the smoking experience familiar while the look is adventurous. The singular series is represented here by the "337" bent Apple, coming complete with a briar insert at the mortise and a jet-black acrylic stem that accepts a 9mm filter.
