Viktor Yashtylov: Smooth Acorn with Boxwood (Magnetic Stem) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-523-0012
This bent Acorn from Viktor Yashtylov displays a similar profile to this Tulip design, both with a serpentine curve and high-set transition. Plumply rounded of bowl, it tapers gradually into a gentle heel spur, while the forward canted posture draws focus to the concave rim up top. The dynamic forward momentum continues, then, through the upward curling shank and downward bent stem. All in all, it's one of the Russian carver's more classically inspired pieces, leaning into the Danish tradition with it soft line, tight-knit transition, and supple posture. That said, Viktor has added his own innovative approach, fitting it with one of his signature magnetic stems. The design allows the pipe to be disassembled while hot, like an army mount, but with a unique tactile enjoyment as the stem *snaps* into place at the shank end. Here, the shank is adorned with a broad ferrule of boxwood, contrasting handsomely against the deep, walnut contrast stain.
