Werner Mummert: Smooth Bulldog with Fordite
Product Number: 002-560-0222
Werner Mummert fashions perhaps the most recognizable renditions of the classic Bulldog shape anywhere. It's a signature shape for him, and he varies dimensions, mediums, finished, lengths and angles for each individual piece, though each is easily recognizable as his. That recognizability is evident through his use of very firm ridgelines and crisp panels along the shank, a pronounced "V" at the heel extending in a point on the far side, and in this unusual example, the crisp ridgelines, while geometrically perfect, are presented in undulating lines.
In addition to that impressive visual element, the accent at the base of the stem is made of Fordite, which is made of layers of automotive paints harvested from a Ford car factory. The colorful striations run lengthwise with the shank and provide excellent color differentiation. The grain is tight and consistent below the beadlines in harmony with the hard lines of the shank. It's a Bulldog with enormous personality and appeal in an especially masculine form.- Chuck Stanion
