Werner Mummert: Sandblasted Pot
Product Number: 002-560-0230
Werner Mummert's style is often associated with avant-garde and eccentric designs, however, the German artisan is also exceptionally talented when it comes to crafting more traditional shapes. This Pot is a rather classically inclined piece from Werner, though it still remains easily identifiable as his work. The finish and color palette in particular exemplify Mummert's signature style — the sandblast prompting deeply grooved ring grain to wrap the bowl while the stummel's tan coloration is contrasted by the scarlet-hued saddle stem. Shape-wise, this piece adheres closely to the archetypal Pot as the bowl is stout and wide, prioritizing breadth over height while the shank-and-stem combination calls to mind the style seen on the Lovat shape. Measuring less than four-and-a-half inches in length, it's also a compact, pocket-friendly interpretation and is impressively lightweight, making it easily clenchable for when hands-free smoking is desired. It's a practical and comfortable pipe with no shortage of personality or charm.- Jeffery Sitts
