Werner Mummert: Rust Reverse Calabash Poker Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-560-0262
An inventive signature design from creative German pipe artisan Werner Mummert, this reverse Calabash displays a steampunk motif, employing springs and a clear cooling chamber to offer the smoking properties of the design with bountiful panache. A vertical, Poker-like bowl sits on a flattened heel, while the removable clear chamber is held securely to it by stainless steel springs that pull the shank end of briar snugly inward. A jet-black vulcanite saddle stem nestles into the unique shank, offering a traditional feel between the teeth when smoking.
This is one of Mummert's popular designs, and one which he offers in a variety of finishes. This Rust rendition wears a special coating of acrylic paint containing very fine iron particles. The finish is then treated with a liquid that catalyzes the oxidation process, causing the iron in the paint to corrode for a distinctly rust-hued appearance and stimulating texture. This piece represents functional art the likes of which you will be hard-pressed to find in all of pipe culture, and owning this piece represents a fine opportunity to show your appreciation for Mummert's genius.
