Werner Mummert: Sandblasted Reverse Calabash Poker Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-560-0328
Known for his eclectic designs and boundary pushing craftsmanship, German carver Werner Mummert fashions some truly striking pipes that blend sophisticated engineering with vibrant aesthetics. This reverse Calabash Poker is one of Mummert's signature shapes, and it perfectly exemplifies his creativity and Bauhaus sensibilities. It features a tall, forward-canted bowl that rises from a flat, sure-sitting heel. The heel angles toward the aft side of the composition, while the rim ebbs toward the fore. The bowl's opposing trajectories lend the overall form an active posture and adds a good bit of dynamism to the pipe's profile. The abbreviated shank is extended by a reverse Calabash chamber of tampered glass. The reverse Calabash chamber will collect excess moisture and ensure a cooler, drier smoking experience. The chamber is then topped by a slender saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite, which should rest quite comfortably between the teeth. An extra-craggy tanblast dresses the stummel and coaxes out stacks of growth rings across the bowl's flanks, providing plenty of tactile and visual appeal.
