Werner Mummert: Sandblasted Lovat Tobacco Pipe

Though Werner Mummert is perhaps better known for lively, eccentric pipe creations, the German artisan is equally adroit at crafting classic shapes, albeit with his own unique sense of style. This Lovat is a handsome take on the traditional form, the gently canting Billiard bowl lent a bit of extra chubbiness and slight taper along with a rounded heel. It's pertly poised at the end of an elongated, rounded shank, with a short vulcanite saddle stem offering a cheeky purple and lavender pop of color. The earthy, rustic stummel wears one of the carver's easily recognizable sandblasts, with tightly stacked, rippling ring grain climbing the bowl and fanning out through the shank.
