Werner Mummert: Sandblasted Bulldog with Fordite Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-560-0341

Werner Mummert is known for crafting pipes that are often informed by eclectic, avant-garde styling, and he's certainly one of the most innovative carvers working today. The German artisan's Bulldog has become one of his most popular signature designs, the traditional form imbued with razor-sharp line work and playful, modern flair, as seen here.

The rounded, stout bowl boasts twin beadlines on the slightly domed rim rather than below, as found on more traditionally inclined iterations. The sharply pointed heel features half-moon panels along the lower flanks, an extension of the especially crisp lines comprising the elongated diamond shank. A smooth, lightly stained band of briar accents the shank end, followed by one of Werner's strikingly colorful stems, this one predominantly lavender with multiple other hues of Fordite accenting the base. The stummel is wearing one of his well-executed sandblasts, revealing gorgeous, pronounced arrays of rippling growth rings, all culminating in a modernist, sleek pipe that offers loads of character and stunning visuals, not to mention plenty of textural intrigue.
