Werner Mummert: Sandblasted Poker Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-560-0410
While much of his portfolio comprises imaginative, experimental pieces, Werner Mummert also boasts an aptitude for fashioning traditional designs. Among said designs, the German artisan often fashions Poker renditions, with the shape's streamlined, practical form factor allowing him to showcase his precise line work and masterful engineering, as seen in this example. With an upright posture, the bowl balances upon a flat, sure-sitting heel, from which thick, straight walls reach toward the rim. Accentuating the bowl's presence, a slender shank emerges out back and meets a trim saddle stem, the arrangement's arrow-straight trajectory making for a sleek profile. Complementing his meticulous shaping, Mummert's gorgeous sandblasting work dresses the stummel here, with pronounced growth rings wrapping around the bowl from heel to rim and the shank enveloped in a wealth of crisp texture, granting this piece plenty of tactile intrigue for the hand to appreciate. Presented in a dark, chocolate-hued stain, this Poker exudes refinement, illustrating Mummert's versatility as a craftsman.
