Werner Mummert: Sandblasted LEGO Poker Tobacco Pipe

Known for his unique, highly original designs that push the boundaries of pipe making as a craft, Werner Mummert imbues his raw creativity and singular aesthetic into every pipe he crafts, as evidenced by this LEGO Poker. As one might expect from its title, this piece is fashioned to look as if it's made from the construction bricks of its namesake — a feat Mummert accomplishes by carving the top of the stummel with pronounced pegs and striating the briar to resemble LEGO bricks stacked atop one another. The end result is a perfect approximation of how a pipe would appear if it was made from the mini blocks, and it is rendered with such precision that actual LEGO pieces can be fitted to the stummel. Mummert has dressed this piece in an understated sandblast that lends just a touch of texture to the briar, and he's stained each "brick" in either a yellow or red tone.
