Werner Mummert: Sandblasted Bent Apple with Polymerized Corn Leaves Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-560-0436
Werner Mummert's approach to pipe making combines architectural precision with artistic inspiration, resulting in a portfolio unlike any other in the world. His innovative compositions are often eye-catching on our site, as Mummert frequently incorporates non-traditional materials into his pipes, setting his work apart from other artisans. Murmmert's ability to merge form, function, and artistic vision has earned him acclaim for creating truly unique and captivating pieces. This particular bent Apple's unique accent is made of polymerized corn leaves, carefully positioned along the junction to highlight its flared design. The leaves form a flower shape, perfectly accepting the vulcanite stem at the center. Shape-wise, this piece boasts a pert, nearly spherical bowl that rests gracefully at the front of a sharply upturned shank-and-stem arrangement. The transition is pronounced, with heavy cheeking that flows into the lower portion of the bowl, accentuating the shape of the bowl while providing a subtle visual demarcation between said bowl and shank. The entire piece measures just under five and a half inches, with the length evenly divided between the stummel and the elongated, tapering stem, while the majority of the heft is concentrated at the front, creating a satisfying weight in hand as it's smoked. The stummel is dressed in a deep sandblast, accentuating beautifully stacked growth rings along the briar's surface, all beneath a rich, warm auburn stain.
